Spread awareness about safety protocols

DODA: In compliance with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, the District Administration Doda along with Police today carried out a comprehensive inspection of key water bodies across multiple locations to ensure safety of the general public.

Teams comprising Tehsildars, SHOs and field officials carried out coordinated visits to Assar, Thanthera, Pari Dal, Bagger, Chiralla Nallah, Malikpura, Shiva Dhal Pull, Kalnai River near Thathri bridge and adjoining areas of Doda district. The inspection aimed to penalise the violators, assess the condition of local water bodies, ensure their proper upkeep and identify any potential risks, especially in view of the ongoing monsoon season.

During the field visits, officials also engaged with locals to spread awareness about the dangers associated with the Chenab River and other nearby water sources. Citizens were advised to remain vigilant, particularly during heavy rainfall, and to refrain from venturing close to riverbanks and nallahs.

The officials stressed the importance of community participation in ensuring safety, urging people to promptly report any emerging risks or incidents to the nearest authorities.

In addition, the Executive Officers of Municipal Council Doda and Municipal Committee Thathri have been instructed to carry out extensive awareness campaigns through public announcements and drum beating in vulnerable areas. These awareness drives are aimed at reaching maximum households, especially in low-lying and flood-prone zones, to reinforce safety messages and precautionary measures
