Market checking drive conducted at Baba Chamliyal Mela

SAMBA: A market inspection was conducted at the annual Baba Chamliyal Mela in Tehsil Ramgarh by a team of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department.
The inspection was carried out to enforce food safety standards, fair pricing and legal metrology regulations by vendors operating at the mela. The drive was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Director FCS&CA Rahul Gupta and under the overall directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma with TSO Ravi Kumar, leading the on-ground implementation.
The inspection was carried out to prevent unauthorized use of LPG cylinders and unsafe cooking, overpricing, unhygienic practices and use of non-standard weighing equipment. The checking team verified the display of rate list to ensure that the interests of consumers were fully safeguarded.
Speaking on the initiative, the Assistant Director FCS&CA said, "The department's primary aim is to ensure public safety and safeguard consumer rights, especially during events of such magnitude. Market checking not only deters malpractice but also builds public confidence in the system and promotes a culture of compliance among vendors."
The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency, safety, and service quality through continuous monitoring and timely enforcement during all major public events across the district.
