BUDGAM: To take stock of arrangements for the peaceful and smooth conduct of religious processions in view of ensuing Muharram-Ul-Haram, particularly the one scheduled on 7th Muharram, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khansahib, Jahangir Ahmed, today conducted an extensive visit to the Shia-dominated area of Yarisatroo.
During the visit, SDM Khansahib inspected the entire procession route up to the revered Ziyarat of Hazrat Qasim (RA) and assessed the status of essential services.
He laid special emphasis on doorstep delivery of ration supplies to avoid any inconvenience to the public during the holy days, uninterrupted electricity and potable water supply, including deployment of water tankers, sanitation and cleanliness along the procession route and around religious places, medical facilities and emergency response preparedness.
A coordination meeting was also held inside the Imam Bara Yarisatroo, where the SDM interacted with local religious heads, community representatives, and civil society members. He assured them of full administrative support and directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure that all arrangements are put in place well in advance.
He further urged the departments to adopt a proactive approach in addressing issues on the ground and to remain available during the days of religious significance.
SDM was accompanied by officers from all line departments including Revenue, PHE, PDD, RDD, FCS&CA, Municipal authorities, and Health Department.
