Clearance work underway to facilitate road widening at Bafliaz

POONCH: The District Administration Poonch, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, has started the removal of structures along the Rajouri-Thanamandi-Surankote (RTS) road near Bafliaz.

The drive is being carried out under the supervision of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Tehsildar Surankote, in coordination with the Officer Commanding (OC) of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Structures falling within the proposed alignment of the road are being removed to facilitate seamless progress of the widening of this vital project.

The upgraded road is expected to significantly reduce travel time, enhance transport safety and open up new avenues for economic growth. It will also improve access to the historic Mughal Road, boosting connectivity between Poonch and the Kashmir Valley.

Personnel from the Revenue Department, BRO and local police were also deployed on-site to ensure smooth and peaceful execution of the drive. The District Administration appealed to the public for cooperation, emphasizing the long-term developmental benefits of the initiative.
