District-level RAMP awareness workshop concludes in Srinagar

Event marks completion of UT wide outreach initiative

SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), in collaboration with the District Industries Centre (DIC) Srinagar and Grant Thornton Bharat as the State Programme Implementation Unit (SPIU) under the RAMP scheme, successfully organized the District-Level RAMP Awareness Workshop for Srinagar at Government Polytechnic College, Bemina.

This workshop marked the 20th and final leg of the comprehensive district-level outreach campaign conducted over the past month, covering all districts of the Union Territory.

Event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 70 stakeholders, including officials from DIC Srinagar, JKTPO, PMEGP beneficiaries, MSME entrepreneurs, ITI and Polytechnic students, and local enterprise representatives.

The SPIU team from Grant Thornton delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, highlighting its objectives, components, and key interventions tailored for Jammu & Kashmir.

Session covered vital support areas such as capacity building, access to credit and finance, market access, digital empowerment, skilling, and the institutional strengthening of District Industries Centres (DICs).

Special emphasis was placed on formalizing enterprises through digital enablement and promoting women entrepreneurship. The RAMP scheme, implemented by the Ministry of MSME with World Bank support, aims to enhance MSME competitiveness, foster innovation, improve access to finance and markets, and build robust institutional frameworks across the Union Territory.

A key highlight of the event was the on-spot Udyam registrations and formalizations facilitated by DIC Srinagar, enabling aspiring entrepreneurs and informal businesses to register under the MSME framework and become eligible for government benefits and schemes.

The workshop also provided a platform for direct dialogue with MSMEs to understand their challenges and collect ground-level feedback for future interventions.

With this final district-level workshop in Srinagar, JKTPO has concluded its month-long outreach campaign, significantly enhancing awareness and accessibility of the RAMP scheme across Jammu and Kashmir.

The RAMP scheme is a World Bank-assisted initiative launched by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, to strengthen the MSME sector nationwide. Jammu & Kashmir has been allocated ₹74.03 crore under the scheme, comprising ₹66.63 crore from the Government of India and ₹7.40 crore from the UT government.
