Massive plantation drive held near BSF camp Paloura to promote Clean Jammu, Green Jammu Campaign

JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in collaboration with the Urban Forest Division Jammu carried out a major plantation drive under the "Clean Jammu, Green Jammu" campaign near BSF camp Paloura, today.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation and foster a culture of green responsibility among citizens.

JMC Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav led the drive by planting Gulmohar saplings at a vacant site along the canal bank. The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, cleanliness champions, senior citizens, former councillors and dedicated volunteers of Jammu city, who adopted saplings and took a pledge to care for them.

Emphasizing the mission's ambitious target of planting 60,000 saplings before August 15, Dr. Yadav called upon people from all walks of life to actively participate and contribute towards making Jammu a cleaner and greener city. He also announced that each sapling will be tagged with a QR code, providing detailed information about the plant species and the adopter responsible for its care.

Highlighting the importance of post-plantation care, especially during the summer season, the Commissioner stressed that protecting and nurturing these saplings is crucial. "These trees will not only enhance the beauty of Jammu city but also play a significant role in maintaining a healthy and pollution-free environment," he said.

Among others, Joint Commissioner (R&E), JMC, Subah Mehta, Secretary JMC Chand Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu Ashwani Kumar Mittal, Superintendent Engineer, Urban, PHE Sunil Gandotra, Assistant Floriculture Officer (JMC) Rabia Khan, IEC Incharge Dr. Divya Sharma, besides former Councillors Mohinder Kumar and Ashok Singh Manhas and locals participated in the drive.
