Govt embarks on ambitious plans to establish J&K as emerging Industrial destination: Dy CM

Addresses NCSS Implementation Conference, Strategy Workshop 2025

SRINAGAR: The government, under the stewardship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is embarking on ambitious plans to establish Jammu and Kashmir as an emerging industrial destination with proper mounting of new vision for business growth in the current fiscal.

This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, while addressing the "New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS); Implementation Conference and Strategy Workshop 2025" at Sanat Ghar, Bemina

The conference was organised by the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kashmir, with an aim to bring together the key stakeholders from across J&K to celebrate the achievements under the NCSS-2021 and chart the course for the coming financial year.

Commissioner Secretary I&C, Vikramjit Singh, was the Guest of Honour while Director I&C Kashmir, Khalid Majeed, senior officials and General Manager besides other concerned officials from District Industries Centres (DICs) were present in the Conference.

The Deputy Chief Minister was informed that the scheme NCSS-2021, which will be operational till 31st March 2037, offers robust incentives for new units, existing units and those undergoing substantial expansion across manufacturing and service sectors.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the transformative role of NCSS-2021 with a total financial outlay of ₹28,400 crore. He asserted that the momentum should be maintained throughout the scheme implementation period and advised all the General Managers of DICs to ensure resolution of any grievance of the Unit holders and be proactive in disposal of cases.

Emphasizing on rapid industrial growth, the Dy CM exhorted on building a transparent, accountable and growth-oriented industrial ecosystem in the region. He underscored the importance of continuous institutional support, real-time monitoring through the JKNIS Portal and proactive coordination with DPIIT to ensure efficient delivery of scheme incentives.

The workshop also included a felicitation ceremony in honour of the top-performing DICs and Functional Managers/ IPOs and PIU Team from Ernst and Young under NCSS and IDS.

Earlier, a comprehensive presentation was displayed by the Director, Industries & Commerce, Kashmir, on implementation status of NCSS and the Industrial Development Scheme (IDS), showcasing key milestones achieved and outlining targets for FY 2025-26.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a networking session and focused discussions on operational challenges.
