World Day against Child Labour celebrated at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: The office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner Baramulla, in collaboration with Saint Joseph School Baramulla, today observed, World Day against Child Labour with a special event held at the Saint Joseph school premises.

This year's theme, "Progress is clear, but there's more to do: let's speed up efforts" was at the heart of the celebrations, aiming to raise awareness and reinforce the collective resolve to eliminate child labour in all its forms.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Baramulla, Rahil Amin shed light on the significance of the day and the persistent need for community awareness and multi-sectoral efforts to address child labour.

He emphasized the role of schools, NGOs, civil society, and enforcement agencies, their continued vigilance and collaborative efforts in safeguarding children's rights.

Chairman, Labour Welfare Society, Baramulla, Waseem Hassan Parray also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the need for sustained awareness and enforcement to eradicate child labour in the region.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who conveyed powerful messages through skits, songs, and performances centered around the theme.

The creative presentations by the school children effectively highlighted the harsh realities of child labour and the importance of education and a protected childhood.
