Stretching Towards Wellness: AYUSH Kishtwar hosts District Yoga Championship 2025

KISHTWAR: As a prelude to the International Yoga Day 2025, a District-Level Yoga Championship 2025 was held today here in the Auditorium Government Degree College Kishtwar under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan.
The event was hosted by the Department of AYUSH, in collaboration with the District Administration, Government Degree College (GDC), Education Department, J&K Sports Council and Department of Youth Services & Sports (YS&S), with Assistant Commissioner Revenue Idrees Lone as the Chief Guest.
The ACR addressed the participants and attendees, emphasizing the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being, particularly among the youth.
He highlighted the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to foster a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
The ACR also praised the enthusiasm and discipline demonstrated by the young participants and lauded the efforts of schools, instructors, and organizing departments for successfully conducting the event. He encouraged students to continue practicing yoga and to spread its message of harmony, wellness, and inner peace.
The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools from across the district, featuring separate competitions for Male and Female in the Under-14 and Under-19 age group categories.
The event was conducted under the close supervision and guidance of District Nodal Officer, AYUSH Dr. Vikram Singh Jamwal.
The championship not only celebrated the spirit of yoga and healthy living among youth but also served as a platform to identify and promote local talent ahead of the International Yoga Day celebrations.
The event was attended by DYSSO Jaffer Haider Sheikh, MO AYUSH Dr. Atul Mahajan, as well as other senior doctors from the AYUSH Department, teachers and concerned staff.
