Block Diwas held at Ramnagri Shopian

DC focuses on responsive administration for public good

SHOPIAN: With an aim to strengthen grassroots governance and responsive administration, Block Diwas programme was today organized at Ramnagri block of the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta presided over the programme in presence of ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone and ADC, Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents and officers from various government departments.

Block Diwas provided a platform for the local inhabitants to interact with the top district administration officers to project their developmental demands and grievances on spot at their doorstep.

A number of delegations from different panchayats and villages of Reshnagri, Amshipora, Check-i-Saidapora, Sedow, Saidapora Payan and Bala participated in the programme and put forth their demands, which primarily included improvement in water and power supply, macadamization of roads, establishment of healthcare facilities, sanctioning of additional ration depots and enhancement in infrastructure for schools and public institutions besides construction of lanes and drains etc.

DC gave a patient hearing to the issues and grievances raised and assured the public of time-bound redressal. He directed the concerned officers to resolve genuine issues on priority and furnish action-taken reports to the district administration immediately.

Gupta emphasized for completing all ongoing developmental works within the stipulated time frame while also stressing for better and more improved public service delivery and ensuring effective implementation of welfare programmes at the grassroots.

He urged the officers to remain accessible to the people for grievance redressal and further assured that all issues of public importance would be taken up with the concerned quarters for early resolution.

During the event, officers from various departments including Jal Shakti, KPDCL, Health, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Ayush Agriculture, R&B and Horticulture also addressed the gathering and briefed the public about various developmental works taken up in the area.
