DODA: To strengthen grassroots governance and ensure citizen-centric service delivery, Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh chaired the Block Diwas Programme at Dak Banglow Bagla Bharat today.
The event drew active participation from PRIs, local residents, civil society members, including women. They projected developmental requirements and public grievances before the district administration.
The DC was accompanied by District and sectoral officers, who were directed to ensure on-the-spot redressal of genuine public issues.
The DC also conducted a field visit to inspect the ongoing developmental works in the area. He reviewed progress on rural development projects, Anganwadi Centres and Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKGs) established under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). He also inspected a nursery developed under HADP and emphasized the need for ensuring quality standards and timely completion of all government projects. The DC specifically reviewed the status of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes, PMGSY roads and healthcare facilities.
Public representatives raised numerous demands, seeking blacktopping of roads, augmentation of water supply schemes, construction of boundary walls of schools, provision of a playground for students and early completion of under construction PMGSY roads.
They further raised the issue of shortage of teaching and medical staff in schools and health institutions and demanded remedial classes for weaker students. Women participants sought better Anganwadi services, improved maternal healthcare and promotion of self-employment opportunities for rural women.
Responding to the demands, DC Harvinder Singh assured redressal of all genuine demands in a phased manner. He instructed line departments to act promptly and furnish action taken report. He urged locals to avail benefits of welfare schemes such as PMAY, PM Kisan, Ayushman Bharat and provision of pension under social security schemes.
The DC reiterated the administration's commitment to responsive governance and inclusive development across all blocks of the district.
