Empowering Farmers: Mini Soil Testing Lab inaugurated at Surankote under HADP

POONCH: A Mini Soil Testing Laboratory, established under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, was inaugurated today at Surankote by Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal who also serves as the Chairman of the District Level Executive Committee for the programme.

Notably, the lab has been set up with 75% government subsidy by a local agri-entrepreneur to provide timely and accurate soil testing services to farmers in the region.

With this lab now functional, farmers of Surankote will no longer have to travel to Poonch for soil testing. They will get both testing and results locally.

The lab is capable of analyzing 12 key soil parameters, including macro and micro nutrients, helping farmers make informed decisions on crop planning and soil management.

This initiative aligns with HADP's objective of modernizing agricultural practices and improving productivity at the grassroots level.

The inauguration was attended by SDM Surankote, Chief Agriculture Officer and other officials from the Agriculture department.
