JKLSA organises One-Day Capacity Building Program on Child Protection, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education at Rajouri

RAJOURI: The Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA), in collaboration with UNICEF and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Rajouri, under the guidance of its chairman Rajendra Sapru and supervision of Secretary Shama Sharma, organized a one-day capacity-building program on Child Protection and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) at Rajouri.

The program witnessed active participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from the Legal Services Unit for children (LSUC), DLSA Rajouri, police officials, the Social Welfare Department, members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and the Bar Association.

The inaugural session was graced by several dignitaries, including the Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Chairman DLSA Rajouri Rajendra Sapru, Secretary DLSA Rajouri Shama Sharma, Assistant Commissioner revenue Jahangir khan, Additional S.P Bikram Kumar, Dy. SP Headquarters Satish Kumar, Dy. SP Akshay Khajuria, Dean of Students BGSBU, Joint Registrar Estate, Controller of Examinations BGSBU and Syed Mujtaba, Consultant. The programme was hosted by LADC Soumya Tahir and was attended by all LADCs.

The first technical session was conducted by Syed Mujtaba, Consultant, who delivered an insightful presentation on Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE). He emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts among child protection stakeholders to raise awareness and extend outreach in areas vulnerable to such threats.

The second session was led by Shoukat Ali, Panel Lawyer, who discussed the Child-Friendly Legal Services Scheme 2024 under the Legal Services Unit for Children.

In the third session, the member of the Child Welfare Committee, Rajouri, Shehzad Ahmed Lone stressed the need for strengthening legal service institutions for children, stressing inter-departmental coordination and community-based interventions.

The program concluded with a panel discussion, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Secretary DLSA Shama Sharma.
