DC Doda reviews, approves route permits for passenger vehicles

DODA: Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, today chaired a meeting of officials from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), traffic police, and representatives of the motor and lorry associations.

The meeting scrutinized applications seeking new permits, extension and renewal of existing permits for passenger vehicles.

The meeting approved 2 fresh permits and 27 route change and route extension permissions after a thorough review of their viability, road conditions, and connectivity standards. Some cases were deferred for further verification, while a few were rejected for lack of proper documentation.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that only vehicles deemed fit and properly serviced should be permitted to operate on the roads. He directed the concerned officials to ensure that all vehicles operate strictly within their permitted routes. He further instructed the ARTO and DySP Traffic to conduct regular inspections and fitness tests of passenger vehicles to guarantee the safety of commuters. "Vehicles found unfit or operating outside their designated routes should be removed from service immediately" he ordered.

The Deputy Commissioner further stressed the need for additional vehicle services from Khellani to Doda and to Ghat, to facilitate the daily commute of medical students to GMC Ghat and the Associated Hospital.

The meeting was attended by SSP Sandeep Kumar Mehta, ARTO Abrar Kripak, DySP Traffic Sarabjeet Singh, MVD officials, and representatives of the motor and lorry ADDA associations.
