DC Poonch reviews water supply situation in town

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal convened a meeting today to review the water supply scenario in the Poonch town in view of the rising demand and current challenges.

The meeting was attended by XEN Jal Shakti, AEEs Civil and Mechanical and Junior Engineers from the department.

The DC assessed the overall availability of water, functioning of water installations and supply demand status based on the town's population. Noting the existing shortfall, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti department to take measures to ensure adequate supply, especially in areas facing shortage.

The DC instructed the department to maintain close coordination with the Power Development Department to avoid any unscheduled power interruptions that may affect water supply.

Further, 3-4 generator sets are being arranged and deployed at key pumping stations to maintain continuous operations during scheduled power cuts.

The DC emphasized that while scheduled interruptions may occur, there must be no unscheduled disruptions in water supply.
