CRPF 84 Bn celebrates 40th Raising Day at Ramban

RAMBAN: CRPF 84 Battalion proudly celebrated its 40th Raising Day here at the Battalion Tactical Headquarters Chanderkote.

Raised on June 1 1985 at Group Centre CRPF New Delhi, the Battalion has been serving the nation with unwavering commitment in various areas including Jammu & Kashmir, Northeast India and Punjab.

Since 2010, 84 Bn CRPF has been deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, entrusted with the critical task of securing over a 47 km stretch of the strategic National Highway 44 (NH-44) falling in Ramban district. The Highway is a vital lifeline connecting Kashmir Valley with Jammu and the rest of India.

The day's celebrations commenced with a solemn prayer at the Sarv Dharm Prathna Sathal, where the personnel gathered for a joint prayer seeking success and safety in the year ahead.

The Unit paid homage to its martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty. A new flag was hoisted at the Quarter Guard followed by the Commandant receiving the Guard of Honour.

In his address at the Sainik Sammelan, the Battalion Commandant, N. Ranbir Singh extended his heartfelt greetings to all members and their families. He lauded the Battalion's glorious legacy and valiant service, urging all to uphold the highest ideals to keep the Battalion, CRPF and the Nation's flag flying high.

As part of the Raising Day activities, 20 personnel voluntarily donated blood in collaboration with the District Hospital Ramban, reinforcing the Unit's commitment to social responsibility. To promote environmental sustainability, 200 saplings were planted within the campus and its surroundings.

In the lead-up to the Raising Day, various competitions including physical endurance, weapon handling, firing, badminton, volleyball and lawn tennis were organized to foster camaraderie and esprit de corps among the personnel.

The day culminated in a vibrant cultural evening performance graced by DIG CRPF, Vivek Bhandral as the Chief Guest.

Special felicitation was accorded to a CRPF Veer Naari Rubeena Begum a resident of Maitra, Ramban for her exemplary dedication. Certificates and prizes were presented to blood donors and winners of the competitions.

The celebrations concluded with a grand Bada Khana attended by officers, personnel and their families, symbolizing the spirit of unity and dedication that defines 84 Battalion CRPF.
