Divisional office J&K PCC organises awareness programme at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: To mark the World Environment Day, an awareness programme was organized by Divisional Office J&K Pollution Control Committee, in collaboration with Government College for Women Udhampur here today.
Member Secretary J&K Pollution Control Committee Ghansham Singh was the Chief Guest, while the College Principal Dr. Nalini Pathania was the Guest of Honour. Divisional Officer J&K PCC Surinder Kumar Tripathi and Inspector J&K PCC Naveed Chaudhary attended as the special guests.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Nalini Pathania and she made the cadets aware about the ill-effects of plastic pollution and emphasized on spreading the message of not using plastic and adopting the available alternatives to the society. Thereafter the students of GCW Udhampur presented a patriotic song, a small skit depicting ill effects of plastic on human health as well as on the overall environment.
While addressing the gathering, the chief guest informed the cadets about the theme of this year's World Environment Day celebration "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally" and elaborated on environmental degradation due to use of single plastic. He also shared insights about provisions of the EP Act which should be followed by all to bring a balance between human and environment. .
ANO NCC 9th Battalion Srinagar Prof. Lt Rukhsana Kausar presented vote of thanks for making the programme meaningful.
The function concluded with distribution of cloth bags as an alternative to plastic carry bags among the faculty members and cadets by Member Secretary J&K PCC.
