Lost gold items worth Rs 18 lakh recovered

JAMMU: In a swift response, the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered the lost gold ornaments worth around Rs 18 lakh within one hour and returned them to their rightful owner.
A police official said that one Asha Parihar, a resident of Janipur, reported that her purse containing 18 tolas of gold and a mobile phone was stolen while she was travelling in an unknown e-rickshaw from Preet Nagar to Jewel Chowk.
Upon receiving the complaint, he said, a case FIR number 69/2025 under section 303(2) BNS was registered, and multiple teams were formed to trace the missing items.
With the help of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police got to know that the purse was accidentally left by the woman in the auto rickshaw, he said.
Accordingly, the purse containing the gold items and mobile phone safely kept by the driver, were recovered and returned to the complainant, he said.
The operation was led by Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO Nowabad, and PSI Irshad Ahmed, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu, Farha Nishat, and SP City North Jammu, Vivek Shekhar.
