GMC student dies in accident

RAJOURI: A student from Kupwara in Kashmir valley, who was studying Operation Theatre (OT) Assistant course in Government Medical College, Rajouri, died in a road accident in Rajouri town today. Jammu and Kashmir tourism

Reports said Wasib Ahmed, a third year OT course student from Kupwara, who was riding a bike and going from GMC located in Khewra, Rajouri to the city side, collided with a speeding tipper coming from the front side at Khewra Chowk. Some people present at the spot said that both the student's bike and the tipper were moving at a very high speed and probably both did not apply brakes and there was a strong collision due to which the student fell down after getting injured.

People took him to GMC Hospital where the doctor declared him as brought dead. Meanwhile, police has registered a case and started investigations.

SHO Rajouri inspector Abid Hussain Shah said that the tipper number JK11F 1971 has been seized and its driver Nardev Singh, son of Des Raj resident Chaudhary Nad, Rajouri arrested. He said that after conducting the post-mortem of the body and completing other legal formalities, the police has sent the body from Rajouri to Kupwara in which some of his friends who were studying with him in GMC have also been sent along with the body.
