DC Reasi inaugurates District-Level Inter-Zonal Sports Competitions

REASI: The District Youth Services and Sports Department, Reasi, organized the District-Level Inter-Zonal Competitions for U 14 and U 17 boys and girls here at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium.

The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, who lauded the organizers for promoting sports among the youth.

A total of 400 students from various zones of Reasi district participated in multiple disciplines, including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Wrestling.

In her address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of sports alongside academics. She encouraged students to actively participate in sports competitions and highlighted the role of sports in building character and fostering holistic development. She further added that sports not only improve physical and mental health but also instill key values such as discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, and mutual brotherhood.

The DC also extended congratulations to the District Youth Services and Sports Department for successfully conducting the event and sustaining the spirit of sportsmanship among the youth in the region.

District Youth Services and Sports Officer Tarsem Singh informed that over from April 2025 to till now 30,000 student-athletes have participated in various intra-mural competitions, which took place within school premises across the district, in games such as Football, Badminton, Volleyball, Chess, and Table Tennis. In addition, 4,000 students have participated in inter-school competitions from April 2025- till now.

Later, a pledge was taken by all participants to uphold the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and fair play, reaffirming their commitment to discipline, respect, and teamwork. Observer Harinder Singh, Sports Council Incharge Aejaz Ahmed Mir, Activity Incharge Kuldeep Kumar, and other officials of DYSS Reasi were also present.
