PULWAMA: The Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Pulwama, conducted a comprehensive Awareness Camp at Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) Lassipora.
The camp was aimed at educating industrial unit holders, workers including non-local workers about various key labour laws and their entitlements under the same.
The Awareness Camp focused on important legislations such as the Payment of Wages Act, Employees' Compensation Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Minimum Wages Act and the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act. Detailed discussions were held on the timely payment of wages, entitlement to minimum wages, gratuity benefits, compensation in case of injury and the rights and welfare of workers including non-local workers.
ALC emphasised the responsibility of employers to ensure compliance with labour laws and the importance of creating a safe, fair, and dignified working environment for all workers, including non-local labourers who form a vital part of the industrial workforce in the area.
The event witnessed active participation from the Presidents of various Unit Holders' Unions/Associations and the General Secretary of Cold Stores, along with a large number of workers. The interactive session also allowed workers to raise queries and clarify their doubts regarding their legal rights and entitlements.
The initiative was part of the Labour Department's ongoing outreach programme aimed at promoting awareness, compliance, and welfare of workers in industrial clusters.
