DC Reasi reviews performance of Health department, lays emphasis on maternal, neonatal Healthcare

REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Health Department to assess the status of ongoing health programmes and initiatives in the district.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Kohli, DC Reasi reviews performance of Health department, lays emphasis on maternal, neonatal Healthcareprovided an overview of the department's functioning in the district including Maternal and neonatal healthcare, Family Planning and immunisation and a briefing on the 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign.

The Deputy Commissioner laid special emphasis on Maternal and neonatal Healthcare and instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to furnish detailed data on institutional deliveries and home births. She emphasized the need to minimize home deliveries, highlighting the risks these pose to both mothers and newborns. The DC Reasi urged health officials to ensure that all deliveries take place in registered healthcare institutions, where proper medical support is available, to enhance the overall safety and outcomes of childbirth in the district.

For improving child healthcare, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized on the significance of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). She directed the CMO to ensure early detection and prevention of diseases among children, so that timely treatment and support can be provided to them.

It was informed that the district has improved many parameters like ANC registration touching 91% in the first trimester of 2024-25 in comparison to last year's 80%, institutional deliveries reaching 91% during 2024-25, BCG Vaccines rate recorded at 108% and considerable improvement in PPIUCD insertion.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that the hilly, inaccessible, remote areas of Mahore, Reasi & Pouni, where people still resort to home deliveries need to be given special attention. She asked for conducting Block wise monthly review of implementation of each Programme. She further directed the officials to compile monthly health data and furnish the same to her office.

The meeting also included a briefing on the 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign, a focused initiative to raise community awareness around TB prevention and treatment.
