Sarla becomes first J&K woman to take 100 wickets

JAMMU: Sarla Devi, the lethal medium pacer from Jammu and Kashmir, has made history by becoming the first woman bowler from the Union Territory to take 100 wickets in the Senior Women One Day (OD) Tournament organized by the BCCI.
Sarla, who made her debut in 2013, has been a consistent wicket-taker for J&K, known for her accurate and deadly pace bowling.
As of the ongoing tournament in Kolkata, Sarla has taken nine wickets and is among the leading wicket-takers. In a standout performance against Gujarat, she took four wickets, surpassing the 100-wicket mark and setting a new record. Sarla has now taken a total of 102 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls.
Her achievement was celebrated by Head Coach Latika Sangwan and Manager Ravi Dogra, along with the entire cricket fraternity of J&K.
Brig Anil Gupta, Member of JKCA Administration, praised Sarla as a consistent match-winner, while Mithun Manhas commended her milestone as an inspiration for other players.
