RAJOURI: The Health Department Rajouri organised a one-day medical education programme on "Awareness in Diagnosis of Oral Cancer" at the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO) office, here today.

The event was aimed at enhancing the capacity of healthcare professionals in the early detection and management of oral cancer, which remains a growing public health concern.

In his address, the DC highlighted the importance of such initiatives in addressing grassroots healthcare challenges. He further stressed the alarming rise in oral cancer cases, particularly among men, citing contributing factors such as nicotine products like gutka, pan masala, and e-cigarettes. He underlined the necessity of proper dental care and early detection to mitigate the severity of cases.

The programme also included insightful sessions conducted by the faculty of Indira Gandhi Dental College, who shared expert knowledge on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oral cancer.

Following the programme, the DC conducted an inspection of GMC Rajouri.
