MIET Hosts Industry Conclave on Industry 5.0

JAMMU: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI), successfully hosted the Industry Conclave 2024 on "e-Factory and Industry 5.0."
The one-day event witnessed participation from over 50 delegates, including representatives from leading organizations such as Prevest DenPro, Dabur, Ravenbhel, Jai Beverages, Medley Pharma, Hindustan Pencils, Biostadt, Uflex, IIT Jammu.
The conclave served as a platform to deliberate on the challenges, implementation strategies, and future directions of Industry 5.0 while promoting collaboration between industry and academia.
In his welcome address, Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, emphasized the transformative impact of technology in redefining industrial practices and highlighted MIET's pioneering role in fostering innovation and skill development.
He encouraged industry partners and academic institutions to leverage MIET's state-of-the-art Factory Automation Lab, established in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric, to address the skilling needs of students and professionals in the region.
Prof. Gupta also lauded Mitsubishi Electric India's continued support in enabling MIET to become a hub for cutting-edge training and research in automation technologies.
The event featured insightful keynote addresses by distinguished speakers. S. Sriram, Director & Head, Factory Automation & Industrial Development, Mitsubishi Electric India, highlighted Mitsubishi Electric's innovative technologies driving Industry 5.0 and stressed the need for integrating smart manufacturing in industrial processes.
Sunil Mehta, General Manager Mitsubishi Electric India and President of AIA, shared valuable insights into Mitsubishi Electric's product offerings and the industry's vision for Industry 5.0. His address set the tone for the day, igniting thought-provoking discussions on the transformative potential of Industry 5.0 technologies.
Manoj Gupta AGM FA Training & Robotic Services, Mitsubishi Electric India elaborated on the practical implementation of Industry 5.0 through a structured approach. He emphasized key concepts such as Digital Twin, real-time dashboarding, and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, he highlighted Mitsubishi Electric's commitment to driving automation, workforce upskilling, and sustainability through state-of-the-art technologies.s.
A key highlight of the conclave was the panel discussion on "Industry 5.0: Implementation, Challenges, and the Future Ahead," moderated by Prof. Sahil Sawhney, GM Strategic Initiatives, MIET.
The panel comprised Namrata Modi, Executive Director, Prevest DenPro Limited; Sami Bhat, Assistant Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Jai Beverages; Rajesh Kumar, GM-Engineering, Medley Pharma; and Dr. Anup Shukla, Assistant Professor, IIT Jammu.
The panelists deliberated on the practical applications of Industry 5.0, addressing challenges like workforce readiness, technological integration, and sustainability. They emphasized the critical role of training and research in preparing a future-ready workforce and the need for robust industry-academia collaboration to drive innovation.
Adding to the richness of the event, delegates from Uflex presented compelling use cases of Industry 5.0 implementation in their respective organizations. Their presentations highlighted how advanced automation, AI-driven processes, and human-centric manufacturing approaches have significantly enhanced efficiency, reduced waste, and improved overall operational excellence.
MIET is the first and only Mitsubishi Electric Authorized Training Centre (ATC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The center is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including a 6-axis robotic arm, FX-5U PLCs, HMI GOT-2000, VFD 800L, LVS and SCADA software, offering hands-on training to students and professionals.
