JHARKHAND: BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the ruling INDIA alliance in Jharkhand stating that in their last five years' regime, the people of Jharkhand have only got "love-jihad" and "land jihad". Thakur accused the ruling alliance of cheating the people of the state, saying that RJD-JMM-Congress have cheated the public not just on one front, but on every front.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP MP Anurag Thakur said, "...If you look at the last 5 years of RJD-Congress-JMM government, the people of Jharkhand have got only 'love-jihad' and 'land jihad'...Instead of public welfare, 'jihad-kalyan' is going on here. Several examples of this are present here in front of you and if you'll see, you will get to know how 'love jihad', 'land jihad' are going on here to unbalance the land properties and demography of the state. Tribal are being lured and their rights are being snatched away...The people of Jharkhand feel cheated. RJD-JMM-Congress has cheated the public not just on one front, but on every front."
Thakur added that there is corruption in almost every sphere and now the people have made up their minds to go with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"There has been corruption in water, forest and land...Now the people will not give a free hand to this looting government...The youth of Jharkhand have made up their mind that now they will go with BJP...How many jobs did Hemant Soren give?... Record paper leak work was done...The government itself has admitted that only 11,400 people got jobs in 5 years and unemployment allowance was not given either...It was said that women would be given 50% reservation in government jobs but they have not got even 5%..." he said.
Earlier today, Anurag Thakur thanked voters for choosing BJP after the first phase of polling of the Jharkhand Assembly elections was conducted.
Speaking to the media, Thakur said "I want to thank all voters who voted for a change in Jharkhand yesterday. They voted to free themselves from misgovernance and bring in the BJP government. The work is done on November 13 and the rest of it will be completed on November 20. The lotus will bloom in Jharkhand, we built Jharkhand and we will develop Jharkhand."
In the first phase of polling which started at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, 64.86 per cent voter turnout was recorded at 5 pm across the 43 assembly constituencies, surpassing 63.9 per cent voting in the 2019 assembly elections, said the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The BJP-led NDA is aiming to unseat the JMM-led coalition, with key candidates such as CM Hemant Soren, former CM Champai Soren, JMM leader Mahua Maji and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar in the fray.
Elections on the remaining 38 seats will be conducted on November 20. The counting of the votes will take place on November 23.
