2 Day celebrations conclude at GDC Marh celebrates

JAMMU: The National Education Day was celebrated with enthusiasm by Government Degree College Marh to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of Independent India who had a profound impact on many sectors of life especially in the field of Education. The celebrations continued for two days and concluded today.
The Department of Education conducted an Intra College Symposium on the theme "Empowering the Future through Quality Education" in which 10 participant from different streams (Arts, Science and Commerce) and semesters participated.
The chief guest for the day was the Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul who emphasised on the role of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in empowering the education system of the country especially focusing on Women Education, Educationally deprived.
He deliberated on the importance of being educated and its relationship with spiritualism leading to a pious and dynamic personality for the benefit of humanity and inspired students to work towards achieving this goal. The programme was anchored by Dr. Ruchika Kumari and student Sneha Bhagat.
Earlier, the programme started with lighting of ceremonial lamp and paying of floral tributes to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and spiritual soul of Marh Baba Jitto.
The students had prepared beautiful posters on the theme of ‘National Education Day'. The beauty of the occasion was enhanced with the cultural performance of Shivani, Khushi, Anjali. The maiden orchestra performance including octapad and guitar was presented by Sahil Sandhu (recently awarded by MIER) and Sagar which enthralled the students and faculty. The First Prize of the symposium competition was bagged by Gourav Kumar, Second Position by Kunal Kumar and the Third Position by Rashi Thapa.
On the second day, the winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates of participation while mementos were presented to the cultural team. The refreshment was served to all the students, staff and faculty members. The judges of the competition were Dr. Ram Dayal (HOD Mathematics), Prof. Asha Kumari (HOD Geography) and Prof. Sachin Bhagat (HOD Political Science).
