CME program on ‘Immunology CME: Latest Developments and Techniques' held at GDC Pulwama

PULWAMA: The Department of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Clinical Biochemistry at Government Degree College Pulwama organized the Continuing Medical Education (CME) 2024 programme on the theme ‘Immunology CME: Latest Developments and Techniques.'

The event was attended by I/c Principal, Prof. Irfana, who served as the patron for the day. In her welcome address, she emphasized the vital role of immunology in addressing emerging health threats and ensuring public safety.

Organizing Secretary, Dr. Niyaz Ahmad Naikoo, provided an overview of the CME program, highlighting the objectives and relevance of the session.

Resource persons for the CME delivered insightful lectures on various aspects of immunology.

The first session featured a lecture by Dr. Shaida Andrabi, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, University of Kashmir, on ‘Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry.' Dr. Andrabi discussed in detail the importance of these techniques in disease diagnosis.

The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Syed Hussain Mir, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Kashmir. His talk focused on ‘Principles and Modalities of Immunodiffusion Techniques: RIA, ELISA, ELISPOT, and Western Blotting.' Dr. Mir compared the various immunological techniques, highlighting their diagnostic applications in healthcare.

Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, Consultant in Biochemistry and Immunology at Unipath Specialty Laboratory, Srinagar, delivered a lecture on ‘Immunological Markers, Diagnostics, Immunotherapy and Drug Targeting.' His presentation covered the latest advancements in immunological diagnostics and their clinical implications.

Dr. Muzammil A. Makhdoomi, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Govt. Degree College Ganderbal, spoke on ‘Immune Regulation, Immune-Unresponsiveness, Tolerance, and Autoimmunity.' His talk provided a detailed overview of immune system regulation and its role in autoimmune diseases.

The final lecture of the day was delivered by Dr. Shahid M. Baba, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Vocational Studies, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST). He discussed ‘Immuno-Inflammatory Mechanisms and Hypersensitivity Reactions,' offering a comprehensive explanation of different types of hypersensitivity.

At the end of the event, certificates were distributed to the registered participants, recognizing their active involvement in the program.

Nearly 150 faculty and students from various colleges participated in the CME-2024 event.
