GDC Dharmari organizes cleanliness drive & quiz competition

REASI: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government Degree College, Dharmari hosted two significant events aimed at fostering environmental responsibility and National Pride as a part of ‘Swachhta Abhiyan and 77th Independence Day Celebrations.
The NSS Unit of GDC Dharmari organized a successful cleanliness drive focused on the maintenance of local natural water resource near the college campus. Volunteers and faculty came together to remove litter and pollutants from the nearby areas of the natural water source and also cleared the path for overflowing water along with creation of path for the locals.
The initiative not only improved the water quality but also highlighted the importance of protecting our environmental assets.
In addition, the NSS Unit hosted an open house quiz competition on the role of National Heroes in the National Freedom Movement in which more than 35 students of the college have participated.
Shabnam Akhter, a student of B.A. Semester 5th remained the topper and got selected for the district level quiz competition to be held at Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi on 10th of August, 2024. The quiz, held at Activity Hall of the college, challenged participants' knowledge about key historical figures who have made notable contributions to the nation. This event was designed to celebrate and remember the heroes whose legacies continue to inspire and shape our country.
Prof. Ajay Kumar, Program Officer of the NSS Unit, remarked, "Our recent events underscore the NSS's commitment to both environmental stewardship and national heritage. By engaging in activities that clean our natural resources and educate about our heroes, we aim to cultivate a sense of responsibility and pride within our community."
The events were organized under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Mohd. Mazammal Hussain, Principal of the College.
The program was supervised by NSS Programme officer Prof. Ajay Kumar and other faculty members.
