Ware House Traders Federation calls on Chief Engineer PDD

JAMMU: A delegation of Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market under the Presidentship of Deepak Gupta, President met Manhar Gupta, Chief Engineer PDD Jammu in his office.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the problems faced by traders of Jammu because of unscheduled power cuts in the biggest and oldest food grain mandi of Jammu, known as Ware House Nehru Market.

During the meeting Deepak Gupta submitted a memorandum highlighting the problems faced by traders due to power cuts. Deepak apprised the Chief Engineer that we are the largest tax collector for govt. in Jammu and Kashmir and every year crores of rupees as tax paid by traders of the Mandi.

He said that the whole Jammu and Kashmir is dependent on Ware House Nehru Market for the supply of essential commodities. But the present scenario of the electricity supply is quite unfortunate because even the whole mandi has latest smart meters installed.

Deepak said that despite the installation of smart meters, traders are not getting regular power supply.

There are daily power cuts of 5 to 6 hours. He apprised the Chief Engineer that now a days all the business transactions are done through computers and because of long power cuts, traders are unable to generate e-way bills and e-invoice, landed vehicles stranded for hours and this is affecting business activities very badly.

He said that traders are afraid that in the coming days ration supply will be affected in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, if curtailment continues. Deepak appealed to the Chief Engineer to look into the matter and ensure regular power supply in the Mandi from 10 AM to 8 PM for the smooth activities of business.

Chief Engineer PDD Manhar Gupta assured the delegation that this problem will be solved and uninterrupted power supply will be provided to business establishments.
