J&K Police arrest two drug Peddlers in Handwara

HANDWARA: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

The Police spokesperson said that a police party of the Police post magam led by IC PP Magam under the supervision of SDPO Handwara and SHO handwara intercepted a vehicle (Tata sumo) bearing Reg no JK09 4301 at Khanpora Crossing driven by Irshad Ahmad lone S/O Ab Gani lone R/O Taratpura and a passenger who disclosed his identity as Shabir Ahmad Marazi S/O Gh Rasool Marazi R/O Summer Bug Lasjan Srinagar.

"Upon seeing the police party, duo tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During the search of the vehicle, charas-like substance weighing about 106 grams was recovered from their possession. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. In this regard, Fir No 68/24 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act registered in ps Handwara and investigation has been initiated," the police said.

"Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding Drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace," the police added.
