GDC Vijaypur organises Essay Writing Competition

SAMBA: NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur, in collaboration with the Department of English organised an essay writing competition on the theme, "Right to vote."
Voting Awareness Campaign event was held under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College. More than twenty college students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm, fervour and zeal. The aim of the event was to educate students about the importance of voting in a democracy.
The competition started with the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Kumar Bhagat, HOD Sociology. He briefed the students that voting in a democracy is of utmost importance as it lets citizens choose their representatives in forming the government.
He further stated that the voting and taking part in the electoral process is more than a right. It's a responsibility that each citizen holds to select their leaders.
The terms and conditions of the competition were informed by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, HOD English.
The first position was shared by Ruhi Sharma of B.A sem. II & Sheetal of B.A sem. VI; second position was shared by Rebika Kumari of B.A sem. VI & Rupali Verma of B.A sem. IV; third position was shared by Kajal Devi of B.A sem. VI & Monika Charak of B.A sem. IV.
Principal of the College, Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Gupta lauded efforts of all the participants and made sure that all of them register for the upcoming elections.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Anita Bhagat, Prof. Mamta Gupta, Dr. Anoop Bhagat Prof. Ritu Bhagat andDr. Naseem Chowdhary and co-ordinated by Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo, Dr. Radhika Rasyal, Dr. Attied Khawar, Dr. Neelam Kumari, Prof. Sonia Devi and Prof. Mazid Malik. Certificates were distributed to all the participants.
