StateIP Yatra programme focuses on enforcing IPRs

JAMMU: The technical sessions during the second day of the National Level Intellectual Property (IP) Yatra Programme in Jammu focussed on enforcing Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and addressing the consequences of infringement in India.
A press statement said G Velladurai, Joint Director & Head of Office MSME DFO, Jammu, and Vikram Sharma, President, Bar Association of Jammu, were the main speakers at the event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) with the support of the Development Commissioner MSME, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
"Focus was laid on enforcement of IPRs and consequences of IP infringement in India during the event. An IPR Help Desk for MSMEs was also organized to assist with queries related to IP rights," it said.
Rahul Sahai, Chair of PHDCCI Jammu Chapter, highlighted the importance of IPR enforcement in protecting creations and innovations in his welcome address.
G Velladurai encouraged J&K industries to leverage MSME schemes, emphasizing the region's growth potential. Vikram Sharma commended PHDCCI for organizing the event and discussed the evolving landscape of intellectual property rights, especially in the context of AI.
Kanchan Zutshi, Director PHDCCI, emphasized the health and safety risks associated with counterfeit products, urging consumers to be vigilant.
Legal experts Siddharth Swain, Sadaf, and Neeraj Bhardwaj from United & United IPR provided detailed insights into the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights and their consequences during the session.
