Yasha Mudgal reviews progress of ongoing SSR in Ramban

RAMBAN: In order to review the progress of ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR), Commissioner Secretary, Cooperative Department, Yasha Mudgal, who is also the observer for Electoral rolls for Ramban district, today conducted an extensive interaction with District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Baseer-Ul-Haq; EROs, AEROs, BLOs and other stakeholders.

During her visit, the Commissioner Secretary also met with the representatives of political parties.

During the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary remarked that the ECI has recently started the revision of electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming elections with the objective of preparing error-free electoral rolls with special focus on inclusion of new eligible voters, who are going to attain the voting age of 18 years on 1st of January 2024.

Urging upon the representatives of Political Parties for appointing Booth Level Agents (BLAs), the Commissioner Secretary said that they would assist Electoral officials in updating and preparing error-free Photo Electoral Rolls for each polling station.

Stressing on inclusion of every eligible voter in the Electoral Roll, the Commissioner Secretary said that BLOs would work dedicatedly so that no eligible voter is left behind unregistered, besides removing the duplications, and an error free Photo Electoral Roll is prepared within the stipulated time frame. She also asked the BLOs to deliver the EPICs and maintain a proper record of them.

Yasha Mudgal asked the officers to set the targets according to the scientific calculations based on the demographic data for registration of new eligible voters including Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), so that every eligible voter is registered and involved in the electoral process during upcoming elections.

The Commissioner Secretary further asked the district administration to arrange training programme for newly appointed BLOs so that they can perform their duties accordingly.

She also directed them to intensify the SVEEP activities to sensitize people, especially women and youth of the district regarding voter registration. She also called for multimedia campaigns and use of District Election Icons to motivate the youth for registration and taking part in the electoral process.
