Map Making Competition held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: The Department of Geography, Government College for Women, Udhampur on Tuesday organized a Map Making Competition on Physical and Political map of India as a part of academic activity.
The Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan was the chief guest. She inspired students to come forward to participate in such activities.
A total ten students of 5th semester participated in the competition.
Supriya Bharti secured first position, Vagisha bagged 2nd and 3rd position was bagged by Mehak Gupta.
The jury members were Professor Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Professor, H.O.D Philosophy, Assistant Professor Sanjeev Upadhyay, HOD Sanskrit and Professor Shama Rani , Assistant Professor, Department of Dogri.
Earlier, the programme began with the formal welcome address by Lecturer Divya Sharma, faculty member of Department of Geography.
In her welcome address, she offered warm welcome on behalf of department of geography and appreciated the participants for taking part in the competition.
The H.O.D Department of Geography, Assistant professor Pooja Bharti announced the results and congratulated the winners. She emphasised on the importance of map in the field of Geography as maps are the windows into information that allows us to explore the world.
Lecturer Divya Sharma, department of geography further conducted the proceedings of the programme with formal Vote of Thanks.
The event was graced by the presence of faculty member Professor Sanjeev Upadhyay (Department of Sanskrit), Prof. Sanjay Kumar (Department of Philosophy), Prof. Pooja Bharti ( Department of Geography ), & the members of the department Divya Sharma ( Lecturer), Dr. Poonam Bharti (Lecturer), Roma Gandhi ( Lecturer) and Balbir Singh ( Lab bearer).
