Jodhamal School Celebrates XIX Annual Sports Meet 2023

JAMMU: Jodhamal Public School celebrated its XIX Annual Sports Day 2023 recently in the campus amidst great mirth, verve, and camaraderie.

The much-anticipated event commenced with the arrival of Chief Guest Mohd. Yaseen Kichloo, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Guests of Honour, SM Sahni, Arvind Kotwal and K K Sharma Conveners, INTACH, Jammu Chapter, Trustee Nandan Kuthiala, Director Aarti Kuthiala, and Principal Girish Kumar.

The sports programme began with the release of balloons and declaration of the Meet Open by the Chief Guest, followed by a brief report of the school activities and achievements of students.

A spectacular and well-synchronised march past by the NCC cadets of the Naval wing and Army wing rendered the parents and spectators speechless and awestruck. It was then followed by the ceremonial torch-ceremony.

The International and National players of the School ran across the ground bearing a torch, and lit the mega-torch marking the onset of the Sports Day.

The most fascinating part of the event was the field display involving mass student participation which splattered on the field. The display included various races like, 100-metre race, 200-metre race, 400-metre race, Swim-a-thon, Skate-a-thlon, Clown race, and Ladder race, 100x4 relay race etc.

The zealous parents gathered in large numbers and constantly applauded the participants.

Kichloo said that he was impressed and overwhelmed to see Jodhamal Athletes and the vibrant displays put up by the students.

He appreciated and emphasized the importance of sports and said that it was a pleasure to see how students of Jodhamal School had eluded the addiction of social media and were breaking away from the constraints of the four walls of the household and were actively nurturing their skills according to their potential to build a harmonious spirit.

The Best House in Sports Trophy was bagged by Enterprise House. Adalia Narang was bestowed with the all-rounder Athlete of the Year Award.

The achievements of Jodhamal Students who have represented the country at the International level and J&K at the National level were especially acknowledged: Ranveer Singh Shan for representing India in the U - 19 World Championship in Italy.

Daanial Butt, Dhruv Sadhotra and Namish Gupta for winning Bronze Medals in International meet at Macau (China).

Raveena Jangid for winning 2 Gold and Silver medal in National Level Shooting Competition. Rohan Langer and more than 50 students are likely to participate in School Nationals in Swimming, Skating, Matsogi-Do, Cricket, Table Tennis, Whusu and Football in their respective age groups.

The friendly tug-of-war competition between the parents and teachers of JMPS was enjoyed by all participants and on-lookers alike. It was the show-stopper which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and applauded.

First three winners in all games were felicitated and given medals by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour.

The Meet concluded with the declaration of the Meet closed by the Chief Guest. The School Sports Vice Captain delivered the Vote of Thanks which was followed by the National Anthem.
