GCET Jammu organises Blood Donation Camp

JAMMU: Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society today organised a blood donation camp in the campus.
The Blood Donation Camp at GCET showcased the community's commitment for making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. The collaboration between the college and J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society is a testament to the power of collective efforts in promoting health and well-being.
Principal GCET Prof. Sameru Sharma inaugurated the camp and emphasized the significance of blood donation. She highlighted that donating blood is a healthy process, and the human body can replenish the donated blood in 4 to 8 weeks, with blood plasma replenishing within 48 hours.
Prof. Sharma stressed that a single pint can save the lives of three individuals in critical conditions.
Er. Sudhir Sethi, President of J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, along with executive members Puneet Gandotra and Mr. Shammi Kapoor graced the event.
The coordinators of the event, Prof. Bhawna Sharma, Prof. Sheetal Gandotra, Prof. Sanjeev Gupta congratulated the young donors for their selfless act as life savers. They encouraged a culture of regular blood donation, suggesting donations every six months.
A total of 44 students and staff members donated blood during the event, and approximately 80 individuals underwent Hb and blood group checks.
The entire procedure was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Mitali, Dr. Rashmi, and their technical team from GMC Jammu.
The event was successfully coordinated by student volunteers Jaanvi Sharma, Gazanafar Kazmi, and Prajwal Nagar, with the support of senior staff members present during the entire event.
The coordinators extended their gratitude to the donors and urged more students and staff to participate in future blood donation drives.
