GCET Jammu holds Amrit Kalash Yatra under Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign

JAMMU: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu today organized a Amrit Kalash Yatra under the campaign of Meri Maati Mera Desh.
The event was held under the patronage of college Principal Prof. Sameru Sharma. In her address, she said that a nationwide Meri Maati, Mera Desh Campaign was launched by the Prime Minister of India to pay tribute to the brave hearts who laid down their lives for the country. It included the programmes at national, state, village and block levels.
The campaign featured programmes like the establishment of memorial plaques dedicated to freedom fighters and security forces, as well as initiatives like Panch Pran Pledge, Vasudha Vandan, Veeron ka Vandan which venerates the gallant sacrifices of brave hearts.
Earlier more than 40 students from all the branches of engineering took pledge on panch pran and ensured to develop the sense of duty among themselves and other citizens of the country.
Principal Prof. Sameru Sharma, students, faculty members and staff of GCET actively participated in this noble cause by bringing soil and rice from their respective homes. This symbolic material was then collected in a beautifully decorated Amrit Kalash (holy water vessel) to form a procession that travelled around the college campus as Amrit Kalash Yatra.
The event was organized by NSS volunteers Rakshant Balotra, Sanjeev, Ishmeet, Sunidhi, Divyansh, Aneesh, Vanshika and Vinayak under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Raman Gupta.
The senior staff members who were present during the event included Prof. Subhash Dubey, Sunita Dhar (AO), Prof. Baldev Raj, Dr. Heera Saini, Prof. Altaf Ahmad, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Er. Surjeet Ranyal, Er. Jaswinder Singh, Er. Atit Sharma and Sunil Kumar.
