GCET Jammu holds pledge and FIT India Swachhata Freedom Run 4.0

JAMMU: The NSS unit in collaboration with the UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan) club of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu today organised a "FIT India Swachhata Freedom Run 4.0" under the banner of Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat an initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India.
The freedom run was flagged off by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma. While interacting with students and staff she said that the FIT India movement was launched by the Prime Minister in 2019 with a view to make fitness an integral part of our daily lives.
The mission of the movement is to bring about behavioural changes and move towards a more physically active lifestyle. She also said that this campaign encourages people to become part of the Fit India movement by inculcating at least 30-60 minutes of physical activities in their day to day lives.
Before the start of the run, a fitness pledge was also taken by the students and staff of the college in which they promised that they will devote time for physical activity and sports every day and will encourage their family members and neighbours to be physically fit and make India a fit Nation.
The freedom run started from the college administrative block and culminated in the college playground.
More than 80 students from all the branches of Engineering and staff members took part in this FIT India freedom run.
The event was organised by NSS volunteers Gazanfar Kazmi, Rakshant Balotra, Sunidhi Sharma, Divyansh Verma, Ishmeet Singh, Dhanush and Arnav under the guidance of NSS Programme officer Dr. Raman Gupta.
The staff members who were present during the event included Dr. Heera Saini, Dr. Neerupama, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Prof. Altaf Ahmad and Er. Atit Sharma.
