GDC Kunjwani Conducts cleanliness drive at Kanju Sahib Dargah

JAMMU: To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and as a part of the nationwide "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign, the national service scheme (NSS) unit of Government Degree College Kunjwani /Sainik colony Jammu organized a cleanliness drive at Peer Baba Kanju Sahib Darga.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, Students, and local community members.

The principal of the college, Dr.Ravender Kumar Tickoo, in his inaugural address, highlighted the importance of cleanliness and Swachhata Hi Seva in achieving Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a clean and healthy India. He encouraged all the participants to actively engage in the clean -up drive, underscoring the role of youth in bringing about positive change in society.

Over 50 NSS Volunteers accompanied by local residents fanned out across the Peer Baba Kanju Sahib Dargah complex, armed with brooms, dustpans, and cleaning materials.

They worked diligently to sweep, collect, litter, and remove debris, focusing on the Peer Baba Kanju Sahib Dargah premises and its surroundings. The local community welcomed the initiative and joined hands with the NSS Volunteers, showcasing the spirit of unity and community service together.

They restored the cleanliness and pristine the beauty of the revered religious site. The programme was organized by prof. Bushra Nizami NSS, Programme officer and Prof.Shamshad Bibi.
