Department of Strategic and Regional Studies, JU visits North Tech Symposium

JAMMU: The students, scholars and faculty of the Dept. of Strategic and Regional Studies, University of Jammu visited IIT Jammu to witness the exhibition of defence equipment, on 13th Sept. 2023.
North Tech-2023, a three days symposium, is jointly organised by the Northern Command of the Indian Army, Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and IIT, Jammu was inaugurated on 11th September, 2023. The North Tech symposium is an event conducted annually by Indian Army and this year it was organised at IIT, Jammu.
This event has witnessed a passionate participation of around 200 Industry partners.
Under this symposium, a two days technical session was also organised by Indian Army where experts from Indian Army, defence industry and academicians shared their experiences.
The faculty members from DSRS participated in these technical sessions. This platform provided an opportunity for knowledge dissemination among a range of stakeholders to create understanding of current technology trends and hardware solutions available with the Indian manufacturers under ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.'
Numerous defence industry players including Bharat Forge Limited, Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited and Idea Forge Technology Limited, etc showcased their advanced and critical equipment.
One day earlier, Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh visited North Tech Symposium, and stated that the synergy between the government and the domestic companies resulted in record defence production of INR 1,00,000 crore and exports of INR 16,000 crore in Financial Year 2023-24. He further expressed confidence that the defence exports would soon touch the INR 20,000 crore mark.
Defence exhibition in IIT, Jammu has provided an opportunity to the students of defence and strategic studies to witness the critical military equipment.
It is important for the academicians to analyse the true potential of advance technologies so that the coordination in theory and practice can be synchronised to achieve the true potential of defence forces as well as the industry.
