GCET Jammu celebrates Independence Day with great patriotic fervour

JAMMU: Govt. College of Engineering & Technology Jammu on 15th of August, saluted the Nation and its Freedom fighters on the eve of 77th Independence Day.

The staff and students of GCET marked the occasion by hoisting the National Flag followed by playing the National Anthem with great joy, enthusiasm and upholding the patriotic fervour.

The celebrations started with unfurling of flag by Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma.

The principal in her address said that we all are here to acknowledge our privilege of being born in a Free India and celebrate the 75 years of Independence of our country. The difficult times and struggles of pre-independence must not be allowed to fade away from our memories. Hence in every Independence Day, we not only celebrate our freedom, but we also pay tribute to the ones who fought for it, to the ones who held a vision for our country, and to the ones who sacrificed themselves for the sovereignty of our nation.

All the HODs and senior faculties from all the branches and staff were a part of this event.

A beautiful patriotic poem was also sung by Er. Niraj Dubey on the occasion. Under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Har Ghar Tiranga, NSS unit of GCET has organised several events like Tiranga rally, signature campaign, flag distribution among students, poster making and slogan writing competition, patriotic singing competition etc. from the last ten days.

The principal of the college congratulated and applauded the team efforts of students of different clubs and their Coordinators.
