Two-Day Workshop on Systematic Literature Review and Meta- Analysis concludes at JU

JAMMU: P.G. Department of Commerce is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of a highly informative and engaging Two-Day Workshop on Systematic Literature Review and Meta- Analysis, held on 11-12th August 2023.

This workshop provided a platform for participants to delve into the intricacies of systematic literature review and meta-analysis, enabling them to elevate their research capabilities to new heights.

With the overarching goal of promoting research excellence and enhancing evidence-based practices, the workshop drew participants
from different departments and institutions of JKUT.

The comprehensive curriculum catered to participants seeking to augment their research methodologies and refine their analytical skills in the realm of systematic literature review and meta-analysis.

The first day of the workshop commenced with an illuminating session on the fundamentals of systematic literature review. Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, a renowned expert in the field introduced participants to the significance of systematic reviews in synthesizing existing research to improve decision-making and practice. Attendees gained insights into formulating research questions that are both specific and focused, crafting systematic search strategies that encompass a wide range of sources, and employ transparent and reproducible Methodologies.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions, sharing their experiences and challenges in conducting systematic reviews. This exchange of insights fostered a dynamic learning environment where attendees could draw from the collective expertise of their peers.

The subsequent sessions of the workshop delved into the crucial steps of study selection and critical appraisal. The resource person guided participants through techniques for efficiently screening studies, assessing the quality and relevance of each study, and determining their eligibility for inclusion in the review. Attendees were introduced to established tools and frameworks for evaluating bias, assessing methodological rigor, and ensuring the reliability of the selected studies.

The second day of the workshop delved into the realm of meta-analysis - the art of aggregating data from multiple studies to derive meaningful conclusions. Expert for the workshop elucidated the principles of effect size calculation, addressing heterogeneity, and exploring strategies to mitigate potential biases.

Practical sessions equipped participants with the tools to conduct meta-analyses effectively, fostering a deeper understanding of how to interpret forest plots, analyse funnel plots, and assess the overall impact of the research findings. One of the workshop's highlights were the hands-on sessions, where participants were guided through software tools commonly used for systematic literature review and meta-analysis. These practical exercises provided attendees with invaluable experience in navigating the intricacies of data extraction, statistical analysis, and graphical representation.

The workshop also emphasized collaboration and networking, offering participants the chance to connect with peers, experts, and mentors. The interactive panel discussions and breakout sessions facilitated open conversations on emerging trends, challenges, and future directions in systematic review and meta-analysis.

Dr. Sunil Kumar, presented the concluding remarks and vote of thanks and Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, HoD Commerce honoured the resource person by presenting a certificate of appreciation.

The Department of Commerce extends its heartfelt appreciation to the resource person, University administration, faculty members, participants, and support staff for their contributions in making this event a resounding success. A total of 60 participants from different departments of University of Jammu, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu, Central University of Jammu, SMVDU, GDC Vijaypur and Dogra Degree College of Education.
