GCET Jammu celebrates International Youth Day 2023

JAMMU: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu in collaboration with Red ribbon club and hostel welfare committee organised multiple events in order to commemorate "International Youth Day" under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav.
The events were held under the patronage of Principal Prof. Sameru Sharma. In her message, she said that International Youth Day offers a platform to honour the qualities of youth and the potential that they hold towards development of a nation and the world as a whole. The day also acknowledges the challenges faced by them and concentrates on efforts to eliminate the issues. A lot of contributions are made by young people towards community development, in protection of the environment and volunteering on various social projects.
The first event was an awareness campaign against drug addiction in the campus and hostel in which Er. Sanjeev Gupta (convener Red ribbon club) asked the students to spread the awareness of drug addiction among common masses and also abstain themselves from drug addiction as it may lead to social, physical, emotional and job-related problems.
Prof. Altaf Ahmad (Hostel Warden) also told them that addiction is when you can't stop and when it puts your health in danger. He said that it is a campaign to make our society free from all kinds of harmful addictions like alcohol, tobacco, drugs etc.
The second event was the poster making competition on the theme "Green skills for youth: Towards a Sustainable World" in which many students presented their ideas through posters.
The events were organised by student coordinators Rakshant Balotra, Sunidhi Sharma, Dhanush and Arnav under the guidance of NSS P.O Dr. Raman Gupta.
The staff members who were present during the events included Dr. Heera Saini, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Er. Atit Sharma and Balbir Singh.
