Kunwar Viyogi Digital Lab, PG Department of Dogri to be inaugurated at Jammu University

JAMMU: As a part of its 'Save the Language' campaign and 'Empower through Education and Innovation', Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust has now taken a leap in Collaborative Research.

In an attempt to further the cause of promoting Dogri and making available the academic and technological resources to the students that will further their academic future, Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust, in collaboration with the University of Jammu is inaugurating Kunwar Viyogi Digital Lab, Post Graduate Department of Dogri on Aug 11, 2023, at University of Jammu.

Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department will inaugurate the Kunwar Viyogi Digital Lab during an event that will be presided over by Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu at Gyan Chand Seminar Hall, Department of Urdu, University of Jammu.

KVM Trust Chairman Goverdhan Singh Jamwal will represent the Trust during the event which will be steered by the Faculty of Dogri with HoD Dogri Sucheta Pathania leading the proceedings and Dr Sandeep Dubey, Project Incharge successfully executing Kunwar Viyogi Digital Lab project on behalf of the Dogri Department.

Kunwar Viyogi Digital Lab, it is said, will be a facility that will be utilised by students for initiating research work, creating dictionaries, digital tools for language learning, developing audio visual material, undertaking comparative study of world and cross language literature apart from learning and enhancing their linguistic studies.

The Lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology including LEDs, computers, printers, latest language software and other necessary infrastructure. This will help hundreds of students and researchers, who otherwise were devoid of any facility to nurture and further their academic aspirations.

The lab will also become a medium to create cross references between languages - regional and international literature, while adapting it to art and culture. It will also help students undertake integrated studies across depth of language, history, economics, management art music and computers.

KVM Trust founder, Poonam Singh Jamwal expressed delight over completion of the Digital Lab, congratulated the Department of Dogri, University of Jammu and said, " Kunwar Viyogi, who was not only a prolific writer and poet, but also a visionary who believed that if given the right opportunity and facilities, we can tap great talent from amongst our youth.

He specially raised voice for equal opportunity for women. His work is not only of highest literary quality but is thought provoking and progressive.

In continuation of his vision, the Trust has donated the Lab to the Department of Dogri in an attempt to facilitate research in the Dogri language that will aid research to flourish and in turn bring language studies at par with other leading languages of the country.
