VC JU addresses Press Conference to Unveil 'Design Your Degree' Initiative

JAMMU: The University of Jammu, under the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umesh Rai is proud to announce the launch of an innovative four-year undergraduate degree program, "Design Your Degree."
From the session 2023-2024 in the main campus, University of Jammu.
This exceptional initiative is set to transform higher education and revolutionize the way students pursue their academic aspirations.
The program was introduced to the media houses of Jammu during a momentous event, presided over by esteemed dignitaries from the University of Jammu, including Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umesh Rai, Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Anju Bhasin, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Directorate of Distance Education, Registrar, Prof. Rahul Gupta, , Dean of Students' Welfare, Prof. Prakash Antahal, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Sanjeev Mahajan, Directorate of Colleges Development, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia formerly Registrar, and other distinguished members of the University of Jammu.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rai began his address by quoting Vinoba Bhave, famous scholar, thinker, and writer "Life is the greatest teacher; you learn more through experiences, challenges, and interactions than you ever could sitting confined in a classroom". He expressed his unwavering commitment to promoting innovation and academic excellence at the University of Jammu.
He emphasized that the "Design Your Degree" program aligns perfectly with the institution's core values, fostering a dynamic learning environment that prepares students to be leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
At the heart of this progressive initiative lies the dedication of the University to empower students with the freedom to tailor their academic journey according to their unique interests and career goals.

Dr. Sadaf Shah, Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Jammu, made a detailed power point presentation on the "Design Your Degree" program during the event.
She provided comprehensive insights into the program's objectives, structure, benefits, and its potential to redefine the future of education. During the Q&A session that followed the presentation, media representatives expressed their enthusiasm for this initiative.
They raised pertinent questions, ranging from the program's flexibility and integration of various disciplines to the support mechanisms in place to ensure students' success.
The team of "Design Your Degree," including Prof. Naresh Padha formerly Dean Academic Affairs and Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, SIIEDC, Prof. K.S. Charak, formerly HOD Mathematics, led by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rai responded with clarity and conviction, assuring the thorough planning and robust support systems in place to assist students throughout their academic journey.
The University of Jammu is thrilled to embark on this path-breaking journey of transforming education and enabling students to take charge of their learning. The current session will be held on 20th August 23.
