Plantation drive organized at GDC Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: A Plantation drive was today organized under the banner of " Meri Mati Mera Desh " by the NSS unit of Government Degree College Kishtwar in Collaboration with Social Forestry here on the College Campus.

More than 50 plants of Deodar were planted by NSS volunteers under the Patronship of Dr Jyoti Parihar, Principal of the College.

Dr Vijay Kumar, NSS programme officer supervised the event while Prof. Randeep Kumar and Prof. Sonika Sen - NSS Advisory Committee Members assisted the proceedings.

In her address, the College Principal spoke at length on the need of Plantation and maintenance of green cover in the present era of climate change. The Principal also emphasized on maintaining a clean and plastic free Campus. The NSS programme Officer encouraged the Volunteers to not only plant more trees but also to adopt the plants. To make the drive successful, each student adopted one plant.

Range Officer Social Forestry, Raj Kumar, along with his staff guided the students regarding plantation and their maintenance. All the teaching and non-teaching Staff of the College were present during the Plantation Campaign.
