District Level Seminar on Credit linked Agriculture schemes held at Ramban

RAMBAN: A District Level Bankers' Seminar on Credit Needs in Agriculture and Allied Sectors was held today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam to ensure seamless financial assistance to Farmers FPOs, SHGs and Agriculture Entrepreneurs for promoting sustainable Agricultural practices.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Sharma, visiting officer, Joint Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Syed Altaf and District heads of allied Departments including Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture, Head KVK, Marketing officer HPM, Cluster Head J&K bank, Representatives of FPOs, PMFBY scheme and progressive farmers attended the event.

At the outset, Chief Horticulture Officer, Anil Gurkha welcomed the participants and explained the procedure and scope of the credit linked schemes like KCC, PMFME, credit guarantee scheme for FPO, etc.

DDM NABARD, Aruushi Sharma presented a powerpoint presentation on various agriculture credit linked schemes.

The event was held as part of the Kisan Sampark Abhiyan and with the objective to bridge the gap between farmers and bankers and fostering the flow of credit to the agriculture and allied sectors.

Speaking on the occasion the DDC briefed about the ongoing programme of Kisan Samparak Abhiyan under HADP which is aimed at reaching out to farmers and educating them on the latest agricultural practices and technology.

He urged the Bankers and the allied departments to work in tandem to achieve the goals of HADP launched by JKUT Government with the approval of Government of India.

He also said that projects identified under holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors would not only energize the agriculture sector but will also change the economic fortune of the farming community of the district. He also called for simplifying the procedure for availing the credit by the farmers and to save them from making frequent visits to banks.

He emphasized upon the heads of the financial institutions to spread awareness with regard to the welfare schemes sponsored by them among masses so that people can avail benefit for their socio-economic development.

The Officers were further directed to sensitize the farmers in their respective areas about the schemes run by the government.

The ADDC stressed on the LDM, Branch Heads of financial institutions and officers of Agriculture Department to ensure registration of farmers under Prahdan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna (PMFBY) to safeguard the interest of farming community during natural calamities.

An interactive session was held and the queries of stakeholders were responded to by the bank officials and District Officers.
