One day District Level Bankers Seminar held at GDC Kupwara

DDC Kupwara stresses for prioritizing lending to primary sector

KUPWARA: District Nodal Officer, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) Kupwara today conducted a one day District Level Bankers Seminar at Government Degree College Kupwara.

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray was chief guest on the occasion.

The programme was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, all District heads of Agriculture Production Department, DDM NABARD, Lead District Manager Kupwara, Branch Heads of Business Units of J&K Bank, CEOs of OFPOS/ FPOS and progressive farmers of Agriculture and allied sectors.

The DDC while deliberating on the occasion urged the farmers to show interest and invest in Agri and allied sectors. He highlighted the importance of the event, which is aimed to ease out the perplexities and cumbersome procedures associated with credit flow to Agriculture & allied sectors.

The DDC stressed upon the financial institutions to prioritize lending to the primary sector for effective implementation of HADP.

The programme was supervised by Joint Director Extension, SHD Kashmir, Dr. Basharat Amin Kuthu, nominated by Agriculture Production Department.

On the occasion, a detailed powerpoint presentation regarding Credit Flow, Bankable Schemes, Need for enhanced Credit Flow to Agriculture and allied sectors were presented in the seminar.

Earlier, while welcoming the participants District Nodal Officer HADP Kupwara, Dr. Sheikh Ishrat Mahmood, briefed the gathering regarding registration of the farmers through online mode during ongoing Kisan Sampark Abhiyan- and extensive awareness cum training programmes for farmers

Addressing the participants, Joint Director Extension, Sheep Husbandry Department, Kashmir highlighted the importance of HADP Project for development of Agri & allied sectors on scientific lines that will help in sustainable livelihood generation for 13 Lac farmers of the UT of J&K.

The officer urged participants and farmers to apply through online mode (KISAN SATHI Portal) under HADP Project for establishment of different income generating units under Agriculture & allied sectors.

Later, a Question/ Answer and interaction event was held in which all farmers, CEOs of OFPOS/ FPOS and Bankers participated. Queries raised regarding Credit flow, smooth & timely lending were discussed.

At the end of the programme, lead resource person who performed exceptionally well during the course of Kisan Sampark Abhiyan were awarded by the Administration.
