Life Skill Training on Substance Abuse Disorder concludes at GDC Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: The two-day life skill training on Substance Abuse Disorder concluded today here in the Auditorium of Government Degree College Kishtwar.

The training, which started yesterday, aimed to combat the menace of drug addiction in the district, witnessed enthusiastic participation of Supervisors, Anganwari workers of ICDS, School teachers, Masters, Lecturers, Senior Lecturers from the School Education Department, and assistant professors from GDC Chatroo, GDC Padder and GDC Kishtwar during the various sessions.

Under the expert guidance of Colonel Dr. K Seby, a distinguished psychiatrist and Incharge of Kishtwar, Doda, and Ramban, the training session provided invaluable knowledge and skills to address substance abuse disorders effectively.

District Nodal Officer Addiction Treatment Facility, Dr. Arif Rashid, and Dr. Haris Masood also conducted enlightening counseling sessions on this critical issue, extending their expertise and support to the participants.

The Red Ribbon Club at GDC Kishtwar played a vital role in coordinating and organizing the entire event, ensuring its smooth execution.

During the enlightening sessions, Colonel Seby delivered a comprehensive presentation on Substance Abuse Disorder, elucidating the signs and symptoms to identify drug addicts in the early stages.

He emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and adopting a compassionate approach towards potential drug addicts, urging all participants, including Anganwari workers and teachers, to contribute to controlling this menace peacefully.

Dr. Arif Rashid and Dr. Haris Masood provided an insightful overview of the functioning of the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at District Hospital Kishtwar, highlighting the role of the facility in addressing substance abuse disorders and promoting recovery.

The training program also included an interactive question-and-answer session, where experts provided detailed explanations to address all queries raised by the participants, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
